Lisa Papineau releases 4th solo full-length today!

While one might recall Lisa Papineau for her work with M83 and Air or Big Sir, her long time musical partnership with Juan Alderete of the Mars Volta, it would be remiss to not keep a keen eye on her solo career. Oh Dead On Oh Love is the artist’s 4th album under her own name, but she called in frequent collaborators such as Tyler Bates and Koool G Murder to round out the gorgeous sounds on the album. The full-length is out today on Team Player records and premiered earlier this week at Atwood Magazine, who say “resonating with dreamy avant-folk depth, Lisa Papineau’s Oh Dead On Oh Love is a majestic and lush journey through a heavy heart rife with life and loss.” Vinyl is available via Bandcamp.

Okey Dokey team up again with Liz Cooper for a Valentine's Day treat

Okey Dokey team up again with fellow psych-soul artist and friend, Liz Cooper, for a special Valentine's Day duet for the lovers that’s making it’s debut as Paste Magazine’s Daily Dose! Liz's voice melds perfectly with Okey Dokey's pysch soul sound, as she sings the role of someone interested in taking up a moment, while Aaron sings about wanting to hold on to a spark for longer than just a night. Filled with a few chemistry puns, and two people wanting different things but failing to communicate, the track touches the different sides of catching feels in 2019. The two explain their parts further:

"We got together and really tried to create something that felt like what actual chemistry might be like. My parts feel dark and distant, Liz’s Feel soft and engaging and they meshed really well. We’re all lovers, so we wrote about being a little hopeless."
- Aaron Martin

“I wanted 'Modern Chemistry' to feel like a millennial romance song. it seems like people aren’t interested in true burning love anymore and are much more into an empty one night stand (pun intended).”
-Liz Cooper

Lisa Papineau shares new single/video from upcoming full-length

LA-based Lisa Papineau is slated to release a new solo record on February 15th and in the meantime is keeping us satiated with this new single, “Beautiful”, along with accompanying music video. The song began with a simple guitar melody tracked by Matt Embree in a studio in France, took shape over a remote session with the help of Jam de Silva and other collaborators in Recife while Papineau was in Vermont, and was finalized by Koool G Murder at Rusty Pipes studio in LA. “This song traveled all over the world in its making and the opening riff is still that same demo guitar part hastily thrown down years ago,” reflects Papineau. Check out the video below, the premiere at Grimy Goods, and keep an eye out for the full length this spring on Team Player Records.
