While one might recall Lisa Papineau for her work with M83 and Air or Big Sir, her long time musical partnership with Juan Alderete of the Mars Volta, it would be remiss to not keep a keen eye on her solo career. Oh Dead On Oh Love is the artist’s 4th album under her own name, but she called in frequent collaborators such as Tyler Bates and Koool G Murder to round out the gorgeous sounds on the album. The full-length is out today on Team Player records and premiered earlier this week at Atwood Magazine, who say “resonating with dreamy avant-folk depth, Lisa Papineau’s Oh Dead On Oh Love is a majestic and lush journey through a heavy heart rife with life and loss.” Vinyl is available via Bandcamp.
LA-based Lisa Papineau is slated to release a new solo record on February 15th and in the meantime is keeping us satiated with this new single, “Beautiful”, along with accompanying music video. The song began with a simple guitar melody tracked by Matt Embree in a studio in France, took shape over a remote session with the help of Jam de Silva and other collaborators in Recife while Papineau was in Vermont, and was finalized by Koool G Murder at Rusty Pipes studio in LA. “This song traveled all over the world in its making and the opening riff is still that same demo guitar part hastily thrown down years ago,” reflects Papineau. Check out the video below, the premiere at Grimy Goods, and keep an eye out for the full length this spring on Team Player Records.
Glide Magazine has the premiere of Lisa Papineau’s new video for the track, “Little Hell” up and ready for watching/listening now. This track is taken from Papineau’s fourth studio album, Oh Dead On Oh Love, which is due out on February 15, 2019. Glide calls the record “an aural canvas of lush but quietly unsettling arrangements.” Head over to Glide or watch the slice of orchestral folk below.
LA-based Lisa Papineau has announced her fourth solo record for release on February 15 and shared a video for the title track at Parade Magazine, who say, “Minimally produced with uber-present vocals underlying a contemplative and simple stop animation video, the song and video showcase Papineau’s lush and lovely vocals.” The video was created by longtime creative collaborator Betsy Kenyon and you can check it out below!
