Evan Thomas Way & The Phasers share new track at OPB Music

Portland's Evan Thomas Way & The Phasers release a third single from their upcoming Long Distance LP. A mix of americana and jazz elements bathe the track in a golden light. A tune with soft textures, it soon opens up into a soaring melancholic lament with the help of key saxophone solo:

“'Gone' was one of the very last songs written and recorded for the album. I remember immediately thinking about how perfect it would be for my friend Ben Latimer to play sax on. He’s a genius musician, and I know he could translate the emotion of the song into an expressive solo, and sure enough – he went above and beyond my expectations. It’s a simple two chord song about lost love, but I think with the help of Ben’s playing and some choice Luna-inspired guitar work from Raymond, we were able to elevate it to something really special.”

red steppes share new song at The Deli

Brooklyn via Oakland artist red steppes have shared a new single from their forthcoming full-length for Native Cat Recordings via The Deli, who compare her styled finger picking to that of Kaki King. The artist states that the song is her way of coping with chronic illness in a society that discounts the testament of women's bodies. She wrote the gorgeous track to "keep an account of who I am when I’m not in the worst of it and trust her to carry me through when I am." She goes on to say the song "is for anybody who’s had to commit that kind of radical trust, for whatever reason." Stream it below and preorder the album via Bandcamp.

Blushing Share "Dream Merchants" Video on FLOOD Magazine

Blushing, a shoegaze staple in the Austin music scene, return with another single and video from their upcoming summer 2019 first full-length record. FLOOD Magazine has the premiere of the track, as well as the full write up for the video. About the power of dreams and their premonitory value on waking life, the band echoes the subject matter of the song with their woozy and swirling shoegaze sound:

"The video concept came about because Christina had a dream about a dear friend who passed away. In the dream he was telling her to go to New Orleans. A month later we were planning our trip back from Athens Georgia where we were playing Athens Pop Fest and realized we would be driving back through New Orleans. She decided she should get a tarot reading while there because of the significant coincidence. Unfortunately the tarot reading wasn't able to happen but it did inspire the lyrics she sings during the bridge and the music video where we see her get a reading."
