Earthquake Lights share new video from Distress Signals

Earthquake Lights have a new album slated for April 5 from which we have already been treated to several delicious tastes. Today is a special treat, though, with the new Minu Park directed video premiering at Substream Magazine. The song speaks to the frustrations we can experience as we try to navigate success in our lives, something to which most of us can relate. Songwriter Myles Rodenhouse reassures that “We all face times like this, and it’s OK to pursue dreams and to fail.”

Newscast share new single, "Alive" -- debut EP out this Friday, March 22

Newscast, a new duo comprised of Hayden Boyd and Sal Almakky, will release their 5 EP this Friday, March 22. "Alive" is the latest synthpop star from that release, with endless overlapping riffs and sparkling electronic touches, the song continues along the same lines as previous single, "Undercover," but simmers in its melancholic groove. red steppes announce new LP for May 31 on Native Cat Recordings

red steppes is a project by Californian songwriter and visual artist Nika Aila States who will see the release of her sophomore record in May. Fans of Joanna Newsom, Phoebe Bridgers, and Fionn Regan will find her first release A Mouth May Grow (Native Cat Recordings, 2018) a welcome treat. Porlolo share new song about quitting your job.

Denver-based band Porlolo have shared a new song today, one that was inspired by band leader Erin Roberts’ recent experience quitting her full-time job. Substream premiered the track today, warning that the song “will make you hum along and groove a little bit while at the same time hyping you up until you feel you can run through a brick wall.”


Shouldies share new track from upcoming LP at Wussy Mag

ATL synth punk trio Shouldies will have a new LP out on Graveface Records subsidiary NeverNotGoth on March 22 and today they’ve shared new track “running” over at Wussy Mag today. Vocalist/lyricist Yancey Ballard spoke with Wussy about his inspiration behind the track, stating “Being a comfortable trans person, maybe just a person in general, in the South relies on destroying your environment’s influence on you, destroying the cis heteronormative design that constantly reminds ‘you are not one of us’, an idea that invaded my thoughts when initially coming out because I craved some sort of normality and understanding, not necessarily to be cis, just to be understood.”
